Water, Fluidity and Freedom
Painting with watercolour is like playing in water. This medium has such fluid and transparent characteristics. It's like the painting has a free mind of its own. I love how interesting and fun it is to try and exert some control over it.
When I was home in our kitchen I was always imagining the type of little creatures that lived around me. It's difficult to not miss home sometimes...this was a fun little project when I lived on Culburra Beach a month ago. At first I felt a little crazy and lost, but eventually I found my way
This piece was done a while ago in Nowra when I was missing my home in Ballarat. I titled it "Secret Garden", a portrait of the lovely garden at the back of the house. Now the house is rented out, it gives me a strange feeling. We went back for a visit to see how the place is going. They have 3 happy looking chickens and a few veggie beds. It was lovely to know that the people are taking good care of it. I wish that everyone is doing well out there.
