Rockclimbing and Art

Painting and climbing are my passion. These two pursuits are very similar. Neither is done for financial gain. They can both be self-inflicting torture or mind-smoothing meditation. Nobody besides me cares about what I do on the rock or on paper, but it feels wonderful to share either passion with similarly-minded individuals. Inspiration and motivation are needed to start either project. Sometimes, I do little experiments and take on little practice steps, and tip my toe in to see where they will lead.

This series of artwork focus on cliff faces and rock climbing areas. I hope to express the deep connection between us and nature.

Water, Fluidity and Freedom

Painting with watercolour is like playing in water. This medium has such fluid and transparent characteristics. It's like the painting has a free mind of its own. I love how interesting and fun it is to try and exert some control over it.

Nature and Wildlife

I have been lucky to live in a place where there is an abundance of wild life. Wild flowers at my door steps and bird calls in the morning. It is hard not to be in love with nature and wild life in Australia. Its always fun and educational to observe and illustrate there beautiful creatures around me.

Words, Connections and Definitions

There is nothing as powerful as words, which, as a unit of language, functions as a principal carrier of meaning.

Colours and Playfulness

Sometimes we forgot to stop and notice the colours and wonder around us. I wish this series of work could remind us of the colourful world around us.

Simplicity, Ink and Lines

Opposing to water, lines compose images confined by distinct sets of rules. Sometimes simple lines of black and white says more than anything.

Opacity, Abstracts and Plastics

Opacity is an acquired taste for me. Its fun to create shapes that can always over-shine each other.
